HBAR is proud to sponsor the 66th consecutive annual Richmond Parade of Homes. The Parade will run over four weekends: beginning on Saturday, October 7th through Sunday, October 29th, with Remodeled Homes open October 28th-29th. Homes are open 12-5 pm. ENTRY & MATERIAL DEADLINE: MAY 26, 2017

2016 New Home Report

The new home industry in Central Virginia had another strong year in 2016, according to a new report from the Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR) and Commonwealth Partnerships (CWP). New home closings and the number of permits for new home construction increased in 2016 compared to 2015. The average new home price remained flat in 2016 compared to the previous year.

Data provided by Integra Realty Resources-Richmond (IRR-Richmond) indicates that the number of new home sales in Central Virginia increased by six percent and the number of permits was up 10 percent. The average new home price in the region was essentially flat in 2016 compared to 2015. The average price of a new home was $373,808 last year.

Endorsement of Levar Stoney for Mayor of Richmond

On Wednesday, August 17, the Home Building Association of Richmond’s Multi-Family Housing Council announced our endorsement of Levar Stoney for Mayor of Richmond. Founded by the Home Building Association of Richmond in 2013, the Multi-Family Housing Council consists of a broad and diverse coalition of local private-sector leaders from the City’s real-estate and development industry.

2016 New Home Report – Mid Year Review

The new home building industry in Central Virginia has maintained the momentum gathered last year as growth continued in the local market during the first half of 2016, according to a new report from the Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR) and Commonwealth Partnerships(CWP). New home closings and permits were all up in the first half of 2016 compared to 2015 and new home price has not seen an increase or decrease.

Data provided by Integra Realty Resources-Richmond (IRR-Richmond) indicates that the number of new home sales in Central Virginia increased seven percent to 1,279 homes sold in the first six months of 2016 while the average new home price was flat. The biggest news is the gain made in Hanover County, which has almost as many new home closings as Henrico County.
